Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily user and technical Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) support for laboratories in Maryland and South Carolina.  This includes data base administration, design, management and maintenance.
  • Focus on DB and SQL scripting and coding tasks for LIMS customization and configuration as required.
  • Create accurate and detailed system documentation reflecting database creation and use or any changes made to the LIMS system.
  • Responsible for generating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) documentation when necessary.
  • Perform unit and integration testing before introducing updates to the production environment.
  • Responsible for technical lead role to support software validations. Specific knowledge of computer validation methodologies, principles and software development life cycles.
  • Assist in populating application configuration and data tables, including migration of some historical data.
  • Responsible for administration, management and maintenance of laboratory software such as Empower 3, Tiamo, MassHunter, MassHunter Spectroscopy Database Administrator (SDA) and ICP Expert II.
  • Assist in testing, Quality assurance, and updating LIMS software products, new releases, enhancements, fixes, and maintenance.
  • Assist in writing technical SOP's and work instructions as needed.
  • Facilitate information flow between the different labs and LIMS users.
  • Able to serve as subject matter expert during FDA and other regulatory agencies audits. Knowledgeable of FDA cGMP/GLP and related regulations and guidelines including 21 CFR part 11.
  • Perform other assigned duties as may be required in meeting company objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments within the organization and function within a team environment.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in database development is essential.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, to include significant experience with MS Access. 
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Experience developing/designing front end Access databases as well as experience with  SQL to include:
    • database design
    • table creation and manipulation
    • SQL management tool knowledge
    • Query optimization techniques
    • Ability to create custom queries
    • Access form  building and maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of Visual Basic.
  • Strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving ability.
  • Shows initiative, is a self-starter, and has a positive learning attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Experience with SQL Server.
  • Familiar with laboratory functions.
  • Good Data entry and organizational skills.

 

Education and Experience: Undergraduate degree in Physical, Life Sciences, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
