Summary of the Position: This position is responsible for providing technical support. Overseeing Adverse Event Reports (AERs) by being the first contact for the Customer Service Representatives for any issues, questions or concerns, being responsible for the accuracy of the information contained in the reports, and responding to technical calls and e-mails as necessary for the office and outside sales representatives. The Veterinary Product Technical Specialist trains Nutramax Laboratories employees and outside representatives to educate Veterinary Professionals as well as retail customers on Nutramax Veterinary products. Additionally will assist team in accomplishment of department goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Trains Nutramax employees on existing and new Nutramax veterinary products
  • Trains outside representatives on existing and new Nutramax products to include International distributors and On-line stores/ALT accounts
  • Responsible for addressing veterinary technical calls and Adverse Event (AE) reports for both nutritional supplements and pharmaceuticals.
  • Participates in training with Product Development department on new Nutramax products
  • Assist with the development of support material for new and/or existing products as deemed necessary by the Director Technical Services
  • Attends veterinary conferences, equine and retail shows as a Nutramax representative available to answer technical questions
  • Maintains technical database
  • Process requests for SDS.
  • Schedule meetings, record attendance and maintain notes for quarterly Bioterrorism Meetings. 
  • Perform quarterly Compendium and ProPharma updates.
  • Maintain CHID policy through quarterly notifications to responsible individuals
  • Maintain department calendar, recording out of office activities.
  • Process expense reports and honorariums for guest speakers
  • Represent Nutramax at Technician schools and Technician dinner meetings
  • Coordinate Veterinary Tour requests, lunch and learns for local clinics
  • Perform other assigned duties as may be required in meeting company objectives
  • Communicate effectively with other departments within the organization and function within a team environment.


Minimum Requirements:  

Excellent writing, interpersonal, communication, and organization skills required. Must be detail oriented with proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams.  Must be proficient in computer usage such as word processing, spreadsheets, and/or databases. Knowledge of MS Access desired.  Experience with Good Laboratory Practices(GLPs), Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), a PLUS. Some travel required for:  attending conferences and trade shows (10-20% travel required).

Education and Experience :  This position requires a High School diploma; some college desired.  Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  Relevant industry experience required with basic knowledge of scientific principles and practices.
